Star-wandered relic, I am your corpse…
Order of the Black Chalice (OotBC) is an alternate-history medieval tabletop RPG setting and system, combining dark fantasy and spiritual mystery. Players portray Pilgrims, oathsworn servants of the Heavens chosen by a miraculous relic to walk a destined path. Each of them is charged to heal the wounded sky, to confront the hellish perils that permeate creation, all the while guided by the omens of a blood-red star.
For their nigh-insurmountable task, Pilgrims are directed by the titular Order of the Black Chalice - a secretive agency of the Church versed in hidden agendas and obscured lore…

Thou Shalt...
Etch thy legacy into the Angelic Timeline.
It is the Year of Our Lord 1997. The world is mired in medieval logic and custom, its infrastructural and technological advancement thwarted by an incomplete creation. At the close of the second millenium, the Peoples of the Book have joined together to recover from the injuries inflicted by a disastrous war against the Empire of Delphia. A wounded sky drapes over the Earth. The angels within hatch its destiny. When faced with a darkened world and fated to the Fool’s journey, what shall your Pilgrim become?
Know the weight of steel.
The Pilgrim’s path is treacherous, and even the merciful and charitable shall be thrust into contests of life-or-death. Every choice matters in OotBC’s lethal combat system. A variety of arms, armor, and Combat Maneuvers guarantee that every battle is a deadly puzzle. Just as Stress tries the Pilgrim’s spirit, devastating Wounds test the Pilgrim’s tender flesh. Death may swiftly arrive, bidden by even the humblest blade.
Reveal the miraculous.
A free-form magic system allows magicians of any tradition to experiment and develop new spells and rituals. Magic is slow, costly, and dangerous, yet those who unveil its greatest mysteries can conjure terrible spirits and rouse the dead to life.
Behold wonder and terror.
Tuesday Knight Games’ Panic Engine drives the war for a Pilgrim’s soul. Hunger, cruelty, and the monstrosities of the sublime claw at a Pilgrim’s spirit in the form of Stress and Panic. Only through camaraderie and piety may the suffering Pilgrim be rescued from the precipice of Damnation.
The Relics

The Apple of Life
The Apple entices. It entices when its color shifts, like the seasons, from gold to red. It entices when its honey fragrance turns to rot.

The Black Banner
Scorchmarks stain this five-foot stretch of impossibly black velvet. It is nearly as heavy as maille and flaps violently even in low wind.

The Holy Alicorn
This elegant spiral horn rests in a modest, black case. Its nacreous surface, azure on the outside and gold within, shines with alien color.

The Ornate Sword
Blade, pommel, and hilt are a seamless piece of eldritch white metal inscribed with circular runes and encrusted with flashing red gems.

The Priest's Circlet
The forecrown of this silver tiara replicates the phases of the night sky, two new moons of melanite converging upon a full moon of pearl.

The Sacred Graal
A mirror of the Black Chalice in form, the Sacred Graal is crafted from white electrum with a mirrored silver chamber.

The Ancient Tome
Supple red leather binds this heavy book. Its endless pages, white and crisp as wafers, are lined with strange circular runes.

The Sage's Shroud
A monstrous visage is burnt into the silk of this delicate lavender veil, its features equal part insect and ape.

The Saint's Skull
You imagine your own skull may not look so different, though the Saint’s Skull is missing one tooth.
